Ray, I'm going to assume you've experienced ceramic coating before given what you do with these GS'... but let me just say that I'm loving mine on the 450's pipes. I'm not going for performance gains but am very much enjoying the cooler outside compared to chrome and with the pipe running under my ankle I'm not even noticing it there, and I love the finish compared to chrome also...

Anyway, what I've been doing and neglected to update this thread with...

    Replaced the stator on Saturday.

Got the tool tray under the tail piece in and sorted yesterday with some tools in there so I don't need to lug my tank bag everywhere now.

And tonight I did some wrenching on the garage, putting a shelf and some hooks up.

The first year of that style was the first full sized bike I ever rode. 1969 I think?
          It was a gold one.
Prettier than the previous year with the chrome side covers and fish head shaped tank. Was it the Cobra?

To me, the Titan tank is reminiscent of an Atlas tank, particularly the creases along the upper sides.

then this one looks just like it. i picked it up from a guy who bought it from the original owner a few months ago. chrome, paint, seat, etc 98%+
like it came off the showroom floor. starts instantly, rides terrific. only negatives are the tach needle is broken off and its got a sticking right float.

I finally finished the bass violin project today. It looks pretty good and plays well too. That's all the "wrenching" I've been doing for quite awhile now, 3 weeks, I think to get it out the door.

I took pictures all around to show the old finish cleaned up and the new neck I carved and installed. The stain colour isn't quite the same as on the body of the bass as I ran out of red aniline dye, but it's close enough. It's a loaner bass that the Heartland Symphony Orchestra that I play in owns. It's an Anton Schuster bass, made in Germany in the 1930s.

If you ride it watch out for the shocks. That was the first bike that introduced me to hard-in-the-curve wobble. Most unsettling.
I liked mine a lot. As you said, started instantly, plenty of power for the day, comfortable ride. My wife and I would regularly ride down to Galveston for the day and were very comfortable on it two up.

Installed a new chain on the GPz. The old one was stretching like a rubber band. Should be good for another 20k or so. Hehe.

I wrenched on, well... wrenches... tonight... doing the anal retentive get-them-all-in-size-order-on-the-peg-board thing.

Next up is the same for the sockets...

Nearly finished getting it all sorted which means finishing touches on the 450 and then I can start on the Ducati... nice

Err, yeah I did... sorry. That's the same reaction I had when my dad said "Do you want to play with a Ducati single?"...

It's a Cucciolo, 50cc from around 1950 designed to be bolted to a pushbike frame, so don't get too excited

Now now Glen... I resemble that comment

                              Mad I am... hahaha

I have no idea what I'm gonna do with it yet other than try to get it cleaned up and running just as a motor on its own. Then I might find a similar vintage bicycle to bolt it to or I might sell it on to fund something a little more lively... say a 750 popup project... but that's going to be a long way away yet...

In the meantime I've just continued getting the garage under control... slowly... I should be wrenching on the bike and sorting out the squeaky front brake except the missing shim pad *still* hasn't arrived at Brisbane Motorcycles. If it continues like this it would've been faster ordering from Boulevard Suzuki

Finished wrenching on the wrenches! Well, almost anyway...

I now have two complete workbenches ready for action plus an empty shelf for current projects (my old bikini fairing is residing there for the moment), the bench grinder mounted up ready for action once I put some bracing in, and all the spanners and sockets and things organised.

Yes, I should've done this *before* finishing the 450, but no one has ever accused me of displaying good common sense

Now I can get back to some productive finishing touches on the 450 and get started on the little Duc
