Thanks Steve. It is a 1983, all original, 6000 miles.
I bought it in 1986 and rode it until 1991 when I parked it in the garage and got married.

I pulled it out in August this year and sent it to a guy who got it running for me for $200. Then I spent about 3 weeks power washing, de-rusting, and polishing. It's as fun as I remember it from 22 years ago.

I don't want to hijack this thread so here's a pic of my ride last week to East Rock Park in New Haven, CT.

This sounds very similar to my situation...Although I'm still working on mine. Beautiful bike.

I've been wanting to go for a long ride all week so I got up early this morning and headed across the bridge to Point Reyes. The last and scenic part of Sir Francis Drake Blvd is beautifully paved and the trees are turning autumn colors. I rode up to on Bodega Bay on highway 1 and headed back down.

Getting some coffee, I was FREEZING. 40* temps plus fog makes it very uncomfortable for us California folk.













Weeeeeeeee. Finally getting the hang of the "supermoto" riding style. Up on the tank, butt outside edge of the seat and counterbalance with some leg. I didn't touch the pegs and there is still almost an inch of untouched tire. I don't think it's possible to run out of tire without almost being flat.

(cutting it close here I know, but no one was coming)

I tried to go for one as I was picking up the new bike today; sadly after filling up with gas it wouldn't stay started on me. Guessed the battery was weak and started to go home to get the one out of my bike but realized about 4 miles later I left the petcock on prime. Went back, moved it back to ON and then went to pickup the trailer at my garage. Once we had the bike in the garage, I measured the battery and it was at 11.99v with almost bone dry chambers.

I'll let the new owner post up the bike once I get her on the site but what little riding I did get in with it, i'm liking mine much more than hers. I just have to wait a few more days before I get mine running on the road again (will wait on finalizing the paint on mine to get some riding time in).

Oh ya, still riding in November in Winterpeg. 9 degrees C. Little cool in the mornings, but I'll take it for as long as possible.

I took the Bandit out yesterday afternoon in the 45F degree sunny day for an hour run. I had just adjusted the valves, synched the carbs, installed new plugs and changed oil and filter to catch up on maintenance. Ran like a champ, smoother and quicker than before. Amazing how durable the B-12 was even with valves gapped too large, old plugs and carbs out of synch and 60k miles on the clock. Lots of nice back roads and no traffic, but sorry, no pics because I didn't want to interrupt my "therapy" session....next is a new set of tires waiting to mount and test ride. I got 7k out of the Dunlop Sportmax Q2's, the rear is past wear bars and front still has another 1-2k but I'm ready to swap out both.

Oh boy motorcycle porn.b I would stalk you guys for miles if I saw you out. Drooling and taking video the whole time. Seems like all I ever see on the road any more is Harleys and cruisers though unfortunately

Lol...trust me, we see our fair share of hogs and cruisers. But I must say, its gotta be something about living on the island because vintage Japanese bikes are alive and well.

There's so many v-twins where I live that when I went to register my bike at the court house the young lady behind the counter automatically assumed my bike had 2 cylinders lol. She looked baffled when I told her no it had four.

You should have dead-pan told her that it's because you have two engines and see where that goes.

I rode today in order to get the turn signals off the parts bike (and on to mine) and then a swing by the bank as long as it needed testing. Then I stepped on my sunglasses leaving the bank and had to swing by Lowes for a new pair, but it meant that much more riding, so I was happy to do it. No pics, she's not even close to photogenic yet.

Not photogenic? So what. Personally I enjoy seeing bikes in all their conditions. A shabby looking bike on the road is always cooler then one hiding in the garage Mine certainly is no gem....

What a great day for a ride

I went on my first ride today after my overhaul of my GS 1100 GL. it purrs like a kitten and is just like when I bought my first one out of the showroom in Japan...It handles great...The weather was perfect and only going to get nicer, and I had a great time...I didn't go anyplace significant, just rode all over the valley and got a feel for it...I am so psyched...
