There is always an 'oh ****, am I going to have to push this up to try again?!' moment for me.

Ducked out at lunch for a quick spin up Mt Coot-tha today with one of the guys from work on a Triumph Daytona 675.

Beautiful sunny day with bright blue skies, perfect:

And man that Daytona's small compared to the 450!

Some may debate this, but I'd prefer to own and RIDE your 450 over the Triumph, I've always like the looks of your twin!

Thanks mate, I can only agree! Never been a crotch rocket fan... he just looked awkward on it to me...

Certainly is Glen! Don't get to do it too much, but on a day like that it's just so worthwhile.

29 degrees out makes it easy to spot exhaust leaks. Which I have. 3. On on pipe. Time to look for a new exhaust. Or get this one welded up for now.

On Wednesday I rode from Santa Fe to Trinidad, CO, to trade a bike for another one. At Raton Pass it was under 30 degrees and I was definitely not wearing enough clothing. Never believe the weatherman in NM in early April. Forecast was for 61 in Trinidad and Raton. High never got above 40 while I was out. A chilly 450 mile round trip!

I managed to ride 580 miles today. I did the Vanderpool to Camp Wood thing then went to Del Rio, Sonora, and Fredericksburg. One road, highway 163, was desolate. On a 30 mile stretch of 189, I passed only 3 cars. The 80 mph speed limit on I-10 was nice.

                        Finally got out!

A few weeks ago I got around to replacing my clutch springs to fix a slipping clutch. Long story short, the new gasket was rubbish, and my cable snapped as soon as I tried the new clutch. Fast forward to yesterday evening and I finally got it all buttoned up right with no leaks and a new cable. So of course that meant today I had to go ride!

This morning I rode up to my buddies house in West Milford then from there we hit up 60 miles of perfect, twisty, empty back roads. We attacked them. My 850G was running amazing, hitting apex after endless apex. It was a wonderful way to spend my morning / early afternoon. The bike feels so much better now that the clutch doesn't slip. I can actually use the power above 7 grand again. And I did. Often.

To top things off, not a single cloud or LEO in sight. Today was a good day. From start to finish I covered just over 130 miles. Not too bad. Felt really good to shake the bugs out though.

Sorry no pictures, was too busy having a blast

Went out for a little 100km ride before the final round of the Masters. This is taken at Clover Point over looking the Pacific and in the distance are the Olympic mountains States side. Looks like our weather is starting to turn for the better.

                              Our weekend adventures

So went for a ride Saturday, out of Brisbane went down the Mt Lindsay hwy to Woodenbong, Then went exploring some back roads and wound up in Tenterfield NSW.
Checked into a motel, and off down the pub for several ales with Val, all good fun.

                              Sunday morning came and we did some historic sight seeing such as;
The Tenterfield saddlery, as made famous byAussie Singer song writer Peter Allen and his song "The Tenterfield Saddler" (Peter Allen grew up here)

A run up the new england higway, to the border town of Wallangara and the interchange station.
Back in the 1880s the the two colonys couldnt agree on pretty much anything, including the gauge of the train tracks, so at the border they each built their own half of the station, in two differing styles, NSW on the right QLD on the left.

Back in Tenterfield I had filled up with Petrol, and unbeknowst to me, oil water and dirt.

Didnt get far coming back from Wallengara and pulled over with mulitple misfires. For some reason I didnt tweak it was fuel straight away, mainly because bike had run fine for the 14ks there. I thought a plug or plugs were dirty so out with the tool kit, only to find for some reason NO plug spanner! Went chasing around the 3 servos in the town until eventualy buyin a $30 socket set. Took the plugs out and cleaned them, they were carboned but not bad. put them them back and she starts and runs fine.

Having wasted a couple of hours sight seeing was over, I was keen run down the Bruxner Hwy, a pretty cool ride of twistys and open sweepers. So we headed off, didnt get far konked out after about 5k..

I pulled the plugs, they were black and heavily sooted, one was fouled, cleaned again, I pull the fuel hose off, and turned it to prime, fuel did'nt look dirty, (well I was fooled) and set off again. about two hundred meters stopped again. One plug out it was still clean, this time I dicked around with the air cleaner, as reving it up produced black smoke, I drained the bowls, I didnt really see anything untoward (but it must have been there)

So started up, its still running rough,So elected to limp it home, could do about 60kmh max but after about 10k and the start of the first set of twistys, it cleared and started to run normally.

So set I sights on Casino and enjoyed the ride, it is a good one, especially after the mornings frustrations. Had lunch Filled up and went home via summerland way, and mt Lindsay, Just short of Calamvale, I had to switch to reserve, and the and wouldnt you know the crap running started again. Ran on progressively less cylinders across Brisbane from there to home.

Today I drained and flushed the tank, and pulled the carby bowls and cleaned, there was plenty of brown black sediment in each bowl, same crap in the tank.

Still enjoyed the weekend despite the dramas, only shame is I didnt take more pictures, but camera was last thing on my mind.

                              Cheers John

Awesome stuff John, looks like a blast despite the dramas!!

I had no plans to get out this Easter weekend as I tend to find there's too many idiots on the road with the public holidays, but I got a couple of hours spare in perfect weather today so took a last minute run up to Mt Mee and back. Only 130km's but there was almost no traffic, only one radar, and lots and lots of bright blue sky and corners.

I only got off the bike for a quick leg stretch at the lookout at Mt Mee so no pic's I'm afraid...
