A short ride at sunset/in the dark to try and scrub the new tires; the tape and writing is gone from the tires but I still have some nubs on the front I need to get rid of on Saturday.Cowboy Up or Quit. - Run Free Lou and Rest in Peace

475 miles today from home to Mount Pleasant, Iowa with pretty much all but the first 50 and last 80 on the slab. Thought I might be able to stay dry based on the projected radar but had to put the rain gear on just before Indianapolis and didn’t take it off until Bloomington IL. I’ll do the last 270 or so miles into Omaha tomorrow and then hope we can finish the work early this week. May decide to take the LONG way home back through Kentucky. Bandit ran great averaging maybe 44mpg or soCowboy Up or Quit. - Run Free Lou and Rest in Peace

well I will be the dissenting voice on hi viz. I personally don't think its that drivers don't see you .. I think they see you fine .. I think that most of them just think you are unprotected and when they make the left in front of you it is a solid "FU deal with it."
Its your antennae not your clothing that will get you home.
Having said that .. there are times when it may provide added security. Before I left NYC I rode my bicycle to work about 12 miles one way though heavy traffic. I installed one of those blinking led lights on the front and back and damn if you couldn't see it from a mile + away.
I left before the sun was up and often rode home after it was down .. at least the drivers who cared saw me and the ones who didnt had a clear shot.
But in my experience .. they just don't care, thinking you have to give right of way or die and challenge you by doing unsafe stuff. I see it on almost every ride over almost 40 years.

We are experiencing uncharacteristically warm weather for winter at around 26°C the last few days!
Went for breakfast in Franschhoek and then rode halfway up the mountain pass to get a picture of the valley below. With many winding turns, the pass is a favourite of bikers and drivers of sports cars as well.

Arrived back from my trip. I had 2 days off for my sister had her baby and I grounded the Bonneville in Nashville Tennessee area. Still for 5 days of travel I grabbed 2900 miles and change.
Started out on in PA met up with the traveling picnic, Nice to meet Carl and Ryan (his son), rode route 666 and blasted out some decent miles before slabbing to TN.
Hit allot of rain on my 800 mile slab to TN, I grounded out for my sister went into labor... Nice to be the first relative to meet my niece! super cute...
Wednesday I headed to Asheville NC but hit tail of the dragon and took the back way to get to Asheville... Met up with my buddy Doug with www.Amenmoto.com .
The next day Doug and I rode the whole Blue Ridge Parkway to DC... 544 miles in about 13 hours. It was epic. Lots of fun!
Then it was an easy 500 mile slab back home, Got home around 6:45PM and spent a relaxing weekend bumming around and doing yard work before coming back to the grind at work.
What an awesome trip!Jedz Moto

I just picked up the VMax on Saturday, and since it hadn't been on the road in awhile, took it for about a 50 mile ride. Too hot and I had things to do at home, or I would have ridden it further. Visited my wife at the VA cemetery. I wanted to see if she was spinning in her urn after me buying bike number 3. She's cool with it, lol.
