This went for $500. A lot nicer than many of those $4k craigslist gems.

Thursday for the Cooley. Did I read that right, you need to buy in for $200 just to bid?

Tomorrow's schedule shows a nice looking 81 GS 1100. Page 6 on the list of bikes. I would like to bid on it but I don't want to spend $200 just for the pleasure of running it up and then being outbid.

That $200 is quite the deterrent. There is a nice Honda CB1000 Custom too. I wish I had more experience at this because I wonder if that same deterrent could result in lower final prices.

I'm watching it now and I am surprised at how low some of the bikes are selling for. The real proof for me at least is what that 81 GS1100 brings. Watching with real interest but really don't know the ins and outs about the $200 buy in price. I guess they are just trying to make sure the riff-raff stays out of the bidding.

$3500 for the GS1100, 2900 for the 1150. I am amazed at the prices. I would have bought nearly everything.... Except the KZ900 went for 9K. Another KZ900 Saturday but less original

Wow some nice bikes in there, and selling for very fair prices.

I did a search on Suzuki only and spent 30 minutes just in awe.

Wow, I'd like a few of those bikes in my garage.

Just a note, if you sign up for the auction prior to the first day, it's only $100.00 to bid. Something to think about for the June motorcycle auction...

Plus a 10% buyers premium or 12% for Internet and phone bidders and a 10% sellers premium. I can't imagine anyone netting a dime on an $800 bike if you have to transport it there.

Thanks for that information, but a premium for buying on the internet at 12% means a $2500 bike now has $300 + $100 added for a total of $2900. Suddenly not as attractive.

edit: forgot about the seller's premium of 10%. Add another $250 and now you are at $3150 for a $2500 bike. (if I am reading this right)

I was amazed at the junky bikes they allowed in the first day (Wednesday). $100-300 Hondas? How is that worth anybody's time, fees, and transportation costs?

Anyway, it gets better towards the weekend like any big auction. NBCSN delayed coverage is the following week: Feb.1 and Feb.2 Check your schedule and record- Paul D'Orleans returns for commentary, which is a good thing- informed, knowledgeable, and interesting. He now corrects the three regular car commentators, who continually throw out misinformation and mistakes that motorcycle guys recognize immediately!

What a difference a year makes! The Cooley just sold for 12k at auction. Do you remember last year the Cooley at the same auction sold for 5k and then the buyer went on to eBay and sold it for 15k. I was wondering if the Cooley could be stolen this year, like it was last year....nope!
