    Another deer

Just had my first deer encounter for 2018 shortly after leaving my driveway on the Bandit at sundown. I'm happy to report that once again, deer zero, Earl 1. A quick swerve towards his tail and he was past. I seem to be averaging ten or twelve encounters each year and it's getting so that I don't even get particularly concerned, just go into reflex mode. I'm getting more practice at this than I want. heh eh

        Oh, Dear ! A deer !

I may see deer far off in a field several-many times a year, about anytime out of town as approach sundown. Earlier in evening are just a few steps out of the wood into the fields, later in the evening are further out into the fields.

But, man, you sure have them jumping into the road by you a lot.

I can't say that I hate them at all. Actually, I like them. It's dodging them that I'm not fond of.

Glad you're safe Earl...those pesky deer need to stay in the meadow! (Not!) I know they need to hide in the brush.

It's funny you mention that. It isn't unusual to see a herd of cows in a meadow/pasture with deer mixed in grazing beside them.

Not to mention speed limits and double yellow lines. On top of everything else the deer do, my across the road neighbor is missing four cows, which I suspect have eloped with their deer friends. heh eh

I caught seven of them in this shot. They're not shy in the Sandia Mountains.

I found myself threading through a whole herd after coming around a corner one evening, kind of like doing cones with four legs.

That would be interesting. I probably would have stopped and watched them for for a bit. heh

Yep, people often forget when they encounter deer that the deer are at home and they are the ones intruding.

I did an experiment once. I came across a group of deer in the road at night and laid on the horn. They went apesh!t.
No horn they just wander along.
The real scary ones are running flat out for some damn reason.
