What other tank may fit a 1982 1100g?
I'd like to get a complete other body to to paint and change out on occasion. I have tail section and side covers, so I only need fender and tank. I haven't really seen decent tanks on eBay lately (but I haven't looked either, lol) but just in case, is there something else that might fit with minimum modifications?https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4442/...678005be58.jpg
1982 GS1100 G converted by Motorcyclist magazine in 1986 to be a tribute to the Wes Cooley replica. 1982 Honda 900F. 1997 Yamaha VMax.
Also owned: 1973 Kawasaki Z1 900, 1972 Honda 750 K, 1976 Yamaha XS 650, 1980 Kawasaki KZ 1000 MKII, 1978 Kawasaki SR 650. Current cage is a 2001 Mustang Bullitt in Dark Highland Green. Bought new in Sept. 2001.Tags: None

1100GK tank will fit, is the same, just has different pattern of striping, and late 82, 83, 84 tanks are two tone, but none of that matters if you are repainting anyway.
About front fender: 1100GK front fender will not fit G beacuse it is over 3/4 inch wider.
THe front forks on GK are larger diameter and wider apart, and as such the front fender and the tripple trees are different than G.http://webpages.charter.net/ddvrnr/GS850_1100_Emblems.jpg
Had 850G for 14 years. Now have GK since 2005.

Doesn't make any difference that I can think of, especially for your purposes. The frames are the same and everything is mechanically identical. The tank and side cover paint colors are a little different, but there's not a lot of paint left on that one anyway.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

Thanks all! I'm assuming since no one mentioned it, the E model tank from that era won't work? It seems also that either here or on the Honda forum, there is a 900F or something with a G tank on it or there's a G model with a 750/900/1100Ff tank on it.https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4442/...678005be58.jpg

I posted a custom Gold Wing in my Wicked Wing thread, that had an 80-81 GS750/1100E tank on it. Maybe that's what you are remembering.
