Babbits....aka Suzuki partshouse , not taking orders until 02/15/2019

Just attempted to place an order at suzukipartshouse.com and after filling my cart, received the message "Due to the inclement weather in the area we are not accepting orders until Feb. 15"!

This was my first attempt at purchasing from them and needless to say, I was not impressed! Could they have not put that on the first page???

Oh well, went to Parts Outlaw and saved about $20 after suzukipartshouse added their $27.95 shipping charge on a $150.00 order! Hopefully I will have my parts by Feb. 15th!

That's disappointing and discouraging. I placed a first, rather large order ($250+) with SPH/babbitts a little over a week ago. I called first to see if I could get a promo code of some kind. They did give me a 10% off code which covered the would be shipping charge. I got an email a day or so after, telling me one of the items was on nationwide back order but they'd send it as soon as it comes in, and gave me a expected delivery date. Got my order in 2 separate boxes on Friday. Each box had its own packing list and all seemed well until I realized after all the checking that I'm missing an item their list shows was sent (2 caliper axle boots, not that it matters). I sent them an email and tried to call today but got a recording, closed on weekends. I'm hopefull it gets resolved and I get my missing parts. The OPs story does not instill confidence.

Look up where they're located -- just off the eastern shore of Lake Michigan, a bit north of Grand Rapids.

They do indeed get some mind-bending winter weather there...

Parts Outlaw has a flat-rate shipping charge of $9.99, except for some really large, unusual stuff. That's great on orders like yours, but really sucks if you are ordering about $6 in parts. They used to have a promo for free shipping, then another for a dollar or two, but have not seen any promos from them lately.

That's OK, though, they tend to have some of the cheapest parts anyway, so most of my parts orders come from them.

            Muskegon Michigan

Some widespread areas have been without power for 4-5 days already. Including a few days of more wind and 10 degF.

But, yah, closing for that long seems strange.

I spent a few hours making shopping carts on a bunch of sites. Even with shipping, suzukipartshouse always totaled less for everything I needed. Not sure why their prices were cheaper than Babbittsonline.com when sph is apparently a division of babbitts.

Some areas here in Michigan have ended up looking like a war zone due to the weather. Were I'm at the kids will be going to school for the first time in two weeks today and there's a good chance this will be the only day this week they have school judging by the forecast. Personally I had to bail out of the place I've been renting due to the water and sewer system freezing underground, all the affordable motel rooms are full of people frozen out of their homes.

The only reason I order from Babbitts is because they are in town and I can pick up in person, their shipping prices negate any parts price breaks you are getting. They are only 10 minutes from my house, unless the situation is drastically different on the other side of town, I'm not sure why they would have such a long outage...

Partsoutlaw.com has a $4.99 shipping code right now!

Took me quite a few tries but I finally got through on the phone this afternoon. I was assured my missing parts would be sent out ASAP. We'll see how quickly they get here before I decide if I'll order from them again. As much as I wish I had gotten all my parts, how a company handles orders when there's a problem certainly means a lot. And to correct my earlier statement about sph being cheaper than Babbittsonline, a check of my notes revealed that the prices were exactly the same between the two, which makes sense since they're the same company.

So can someone explain to me again why the hell anyone lives north of the Mason-Dixon line, especially after humans invented motorcycles?

I mean, "frozen sewer" is not a phrase that belongs in civilized society.

PartsOutlaw is located in Florida so they shouldn't have any weather issues unless there's a hurricane. It gets pretty cold here in Delaware (located near the Mason/Dixon line) but the only place I've visited that gets extremely cold is Wichita, Kansas. Our family had the coldest Christmas there back in 1995...brrrr!!!

I haven't had any luck there. My experience with incorrect parts and back orders leads me elsewhere.
