    1500 miles in Vietnam

I went to Vietnam in November with the plan to do a solo ride from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi. Within a few hours on my first day, I met 7 locals on 4 Harleys and 2 BMWs. I spent a day and a half riding with them and learned a ton about how to ride there. I went on to finish 1500 miles in 11 days.

          Great stuff, Jordan.
What make and model bike were you riding?
Even with just the short in-town riding clips it sure looks like a free-for-all traffic style.

Thumbs up. How was the pavement surface? Was a bit different when I was there.

I rented a brand new 2018 Honda CB500X. The rental company had just purchased the bike in the fall and I was the first to rent it.

I was really intimidated by the city traffic at first. Many times when I thought I "owned" a 3 foot wide section of road, a scooter/motorbike would appear right next to me. That made me really nervous but I learned to expect it. I finally figured out the only rule was "Don't hit anyone". After that, I just flowed with traffic.

The roads were usually very nice. There were a few stretches were I'd come around a corner and find the pavement had turned to gravel. Fortunately, I learned this lesson while following the local guys who seemed to know where the damaged roads were.

Because bikes over 170cc are heavily taxed, I didn't see many motorcycles, only scooters and step throughs. Those Harleys attracted a lot of attention wherever we went. People would hear the Harley rumble and take pictures when we rolled into town. Traffic would often yield and let us through which was really cool. I missed that once I was riding solo!
