    Paint suggestions?

    Hello, all

My '82 GS650L is back on the road running better than ever and it's time for her to get a fresh coat. Any recommendations? I'm probably going to have someone else shoot it, but I'd like to use a quality product and clear coat so thought I'd see if you guys had any suggestions.

I'm thinking just gloss black - unless anyone happens to have the paint codes shown below?
    Many thanks.

My preference is Dupont Imron by far, but PPG has some very good automotive paints also.
I suggest you get a professional to spray the Imron if that is your choice of product unless you have spent a lot of hours pushing a spray gun It's super durable and has a fantastic gloss, but it isn't an easy paint to work with/spray. PPG is much more forgiving if you will be doing it yourself.

I would rather sit on a pumpkin and have it all to myself than be crowded on a velvet cushion. H.D.T.

You can get the paint codes off the OEM parts fishe but they won't do you any good because there are no modern paint formulas to coincide. If you have a good sample of the color you want any decent paint supply store can match the color. Paint is freaking expensive these days so get prepared. Since you don't plan on painting the tank yourself you may want to talk to your painter of choice to find out what reminants they have laying around. Pick out something they have left over from some job and you should be able to save a fair bit of money. Urethane top coat should be considered mandatory since it will tolerate gas spills better than anything lesser. There is nothing worse than seeing your nice pretty paint job curl up the first time your gas cap weaps a little on a hot day.

Thanks for the help, guys. Had a nice ride to Key Largo yesterday and Coconut Grove this morning. I'll get her painted up and post a pic.
