NADA and Kelly Blue Book price guides.

I never put a whole lot of value into price guides, but was curious to see what some of my bikes may be worth if I were to put them on consignment at work. Our head salesman told me that they could find financing on any bike as long as it have a NADA book value over $3,000. I prefer NADA over Kelly because they almost always place a higher value than KBB. My conclusion is they have no clue what these bike are worth. Now the reason I say this, is they value an '81 GS1000GL over an '84 GS1150ES. Actually the GL is rated $3,000 more and in some cases the most highly collectible bikes are listed as less that the standard models as is with the first two year Kats.

I prefer the NADA values when I'm selling and Kelly if I'm buying. Nada gives it's prices in grades and KBB gives a retail and trade in only. So it doesn't matter if it's in great or crappy shape, your given what i assume is an average. The trade in is almost have of what it worth. I would like to know how they calculate these prices, because it seems NADA doesn't know the difference between an L model and a Cooley and in some cases the Kat is less and some it's more.

Below is a list of NADA and KBB values. NADA are giving in four of the five conditions respectively, from Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor. I won't be listing the Poor value as they were all N/A. I'll also only list 1000cc + bikes, so basically '78-85. Also the values I'm posting are for my zip code, so values may very where you live. Also I listed them exactly as they describe each model and there is a '83 1150 listed in the KBB. Has anyone ever seen an '83 1150?

Yeah, pricing seems to be pretty vague and all over the map. As for the '83 1150 IIRC it has some funky thing to do with the california market, don't remember the exact details though. Maybe they wouldn't pass Cali emissions for '84 so they marketed them as an '83 to get around it. Online parts catalogs list them there.

I had the same quandary. Technically, there's no such thing as an '83 1150, but I'd keep reading (here) people talking about them.
1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red

2016 XL883L sigpic Two-tone blue and white. Almost 42 hp! Status: destroyed, now owned by the insurance company. The hole in my memory starts an hour before the accident and ends 24 hours after.
