    seat

I have a 1978 GS1000, I absolutely hate my double hump seat, are the seats interchangeable from other models? I am looking for a more flat seat and would even consider an aftermarket cafe style seat if it didnt require to much modification Any info would be appreciated!

The 1978 GS1000C had a totally flat seat.

You could get a replacement cover here - https://www.ebay.com/itm/SUZUKI-GS10...MAAOSwTs5dY5Me

Then either cut down your existing foam to fit, or buy a block of foam from here - https://www.sargentcycle.com/ and carve it up yourself to fit.

Not quite sure what a double hump seat is but 1000E has a slight step to it.
This one might still be for sale.

That is a Giuliari seat. They pop up on ebay from time to time. Not cheap.

Can you show a picture of your "double hump" seat?

                  seat in question

Resized952019092395160721.jpgthis is the double hump I am referring too, it has been suggested that I shave the back down to achieve what I am looking for.

Definitely an aftermarket "touring" seat, but I don't recognize the brand.

Is there any brand marker on it? Some had a tag sewn into a seam, others had a sticker on the pan.

For those who might ride several hundred miles a day and/or have other touring accoutrements installed, it is a most-welcome addition. However, all by itself, it does look greatly out of place.

Steve Murdoch offered a link to one for sale in post #3. Have you followed up on that one?

No expense to great for comfort

I purchased an extra seat pan for my GS850GL and sent it to Diamond Custom Seats -
He made me a touring seat with a backrest -
                        Wider - More comfortable - NEW -
$660 -- sounds like a lot but I can ride 500+ miles and still easily walk around when I get off .

Extreme ? Perhaps - but comfort is important on long days in the saddle --
