    Need Help

    Hey Guys,

I am looking at purchasing this 1978 GS 1000. Can someone help identify what front forks and swing arm are on this bike? I know they are not stock and the owner knows nothing about the bike. They may be 1100 parts, I am just not 100% if so, I would assume they are an upgrade?

I also know that the wheels are not stock, can anyone identify those for me?

additionally, please let me know if you see anything else that is not stock or that you would question.

    I appreciate it!!

Looks like gs1100e (80-83) swing arm
        and 82 gs1100e forks
wheels look like they maybe magnesium; deg not stock or even GS.

do you know the main difference between the 1000 forks and the 1100e forks? i would assume it would be considered an upgrade? I was just told these wheels may be Lester mags?

Those forks have anti-dive units, I don't think any 1000 had them.
Are they an upgrade? Doubtful, as many here have sought ways to bypass the anti-dive.

For the wheels, my money would be on Lester or Yamaha's version of them.

I don't know if the Yamaha wheels were actually made by Lester, but they do look remarkably similar.
