    What happened to Basscliff?

What happened to Basscliff? He's mentioned all the time and made a very helpful website, but when I come across posts he made in older threads, he's no longer a member. I'm just curious.

    Facebook friends with him.

Time, I suspect, is the suspect.

He works a full time job, (or did?), plus, he is a bass player in a country band that has been doing very well.
Seems as though they are playing somewhere pretty nice every weekend. Corporate events and nice venues.
Facebook stream is mostly band stuff...

    Great guy...

He's a pretty darn busy professional musician and traveling a lot.
The account of a "weekend warrior" musician playing bass in cover bands around Southern California and beyond.

The phrase "no time to ride" is usually a cop-out, but in his case it's true -- his music career took off so other parts of life had to change.

I was a bass player (certainly nowhere near Cliff's level) in a very busy local classic rock bar band for many years, and had almost no opportunity to ride. Cliff is traveling a lot, so I'd imagine he doesn't get back to his bike much.

Pretty sure he'll be back at some point. As I recall his bike is down for a head gasket replacement...at which point he got "distracted."

I don't know anything about him, age or health or anything else so I was slightly concerned that he was an older gentleman that had passed or gotten in an accident or something. Good to know he's still around. I can understand his commitments, and I understand that sometimes life makes you put hobbies on hold. My wife an I recently had our first child, and we're in the process of finding a house, so most of my hobbies are at a stand-still until I have my own garage again.

Well well, I have been pronouncing it wrong this whole time. I thought it was Bass like the fish, not the musical one. I will correct that in my head now.

He's a super nice guy who did (i believe) what was for him uninspiring IT work down in Orange County & commuted by bike most days. Like a lot of IT work I'm guessing it was "feast or famine" and you're always near a screen so a lot of opportunity to jump on here in a dead spot. Now I suspect not so much.

He got the chance to chase his dream at a later stage in life than most! We all should be so lucky!

As I understand it his day job is (or at least was) IT at Mt. San Antonio College. His passion was music though, which he worked after hours. A few years back he hooked with a great singer and they got some really good gigs, Disney Land being a regular. I may be wrong but I thought he was still at Mt. SAC. He's got a wife and child so the benefits would come in handy, plus being a government worker the pension won't hurt either.

With his varied interests, he is a member of several forums. On the musical forums, he is known as "BikeCliff" to show his interest in motorcycles. On the bike forums, he is known as "BassCliff", to show his interest in playing his bass guitar.

I don't know for sure, but I would guess his age at mid-40s. I send greetings a few times a year, just to make sure he is still doing OK.

My daughter has an acoustic bass guitar, had a lot of fun with it.

Sounds like they have a decent act, do they play both kinds of music? (Country AND Western)

                              Very cool vid, Redman. Thanks.

I bless him every time I look at my bikes. His site with all those notes and pdfs is a massive help!

He COULD call it "RTFM (Suzuki)", but he's too nice a guy, I guess.
