    Can anyone identify this part?

I'm downsizing my parts mass and I picked this up somewhere in the last 20 years
It's much smaller than my 850/1000 alternator covers, so I'm thinking it's from a twin?
The only identifying marks are 490 (h)-1

It looks like a 16v 750/1100 by the pictures, but I can't visualize what 650/550/450/400 look like.
I went out to the garage just now to look at mine-it's not an 1150 cover
    GS\'s since 1982: 55OMZ, 550ES, 750ET, (2) 1100ET\'s, 1100S, 1150ES. Current ride is an 83 Katana. Wifes bike is an 84 GS 1150ES

Unfortunately, the number is covered by the gasket in my pic but there enough difference that make me believe yours is not from a 16v 750, at least not a 82 750T,

I don't want to remove either of mine but it does look like one from a 550/650 to me

I'm not taking mine off to look, but I think my 850 cover looked like that.

Looks like a 16v 750 cover. Hard to gauge the exact size, but mine looks just like that irc.

If it is an 850G it's not an '83

There are several differences. I had fun comparing the two and marked a few places they're different. '83 850G on the left, mystery part on the right.
