    My bike, GS650E doesn't exist

Why doesn't the 81/82 GS650 bike show up on a lot of the sites that claim to have all the Suzuki models on them..

    Example http://www.suzukicycles.org/All-Suzu...ki_models.html

Been doing a lot of post surfing specifically for the GS650E and have found a lot of good information but when it comes to the vin no's that is also lacking in detail.

    Questions......Vin no's don't match the Engine no's..........Frame is 17 digits, engine is 6 + model prefix??

Here are the Frame Vin no's buy the Chart i downloaded. On the 82 that corresponds with my Frame Vin no it reads more as a GS550E the first letter 6 looks more like a 5.

Anyone with any obscure info on the GS650E......Does anyone know if the model was imported to Australia an an Australian model

Go to the GSR home page, slide over to GS Info. then click on model information, it will tell you a lot. Frame #'s are always different from the eng#'s.

Does the bike have a VIN label on the steering neck? If so, what does it say?

The SN and engine number don't match on GS bikes.

Hum. I was hoping there would be a sticker similar to what comes on US bikes. Without that it's more difficult to understand what exactly you have. The good news is that Suzuki changed very little over the years so it mostly doesn't matter in terms of keeping the bike going down the road.

Yes so was i. My Canadian 83 XS650 has the vin sticker with the date of manufacture, year, vin no, (17 digits), and just about tells you when the foreman had toilet breaks.

            Slowly getting there......Thanks

For what it's worth, the 650E wasn't imported into some markets. As far as I know the few here in NZ are all grey imports from the Japanese home market.
As such I wouldn't expect them to have the VIN Id seen on US models. Aussie got it's fair share of grey imports too....

What's your end game for chasing this information? Said another way, why are you concerned with specific details about your bike? Do you need parts and if so what?

End game. Knowledge. this is a 38 year old bike. The bike is in good to excellent condition with low k's but still 38 years old and who knows what will be needed in the near future or in the event, (definitely not on the list) of some damage then trying to identify what i can swap into the 650 from other models.

been doing ebay search's to see what is available and how many parts are out there. parts lists from the Suzuki suppliers. just like to know because i am paying good money for the bike, and due to it being on the rare side looking at availability of things.

Also just a nut that like to find out as much as i can. And hell if i get bored i just may get another set of barrels and do a 740 kit and keep the 650 barrels and pistons.

Partzilla.com has some good parts fishe info. When you look up a part it will tell you what other model and year bikes the parts fit. Sometimes the PN's are different but the only real difference is color. Anyway, I think you will find that 95% of the parts between the different years for your bike are the same. I don't see a 1983 650E listed, so I'm not sure they had an existing model for that year in the US. The motorcycle market in the US was crashing and burning in 1983 and all the manufacturers had leftover models going back several years so it makes sense that Suzuki didn't update the model for some markets.

Well FWIW, I'm doing a storage cleanout and have a set of 650G barrels and pistons in good nick which I'm about to list on a local forum. Far as i know they're identical with the E.
