1983 GS 1100 E goes for

Did you guys see the 1980 GS750e on Bring a Trailer? It is low mileage and comes with matching side bags... there are 6 days left in the auction. The motorcycle is located in Grand Island New York. Maybe someone could post the link. 👍My Motorcycles:
22 Kawasaki Z900 RS (Candy Tone Blue)
22 BMW K1600GT (Probably been to a town near you)
82 1100e Drag Bike (needs race engine)
81 1100e Street Bike (with race engine)

Today is the final day of the auction for the 1980 GS750e on Bring a Trailer. The current bid is $1,800. I might have to bid on this...My Motorcycles:

$4,200 that seems to be about right I'd say... Good deal on both sides. 👍My Motorcycles:

I just hope these Mecum, bring a trailer, & Barrett Jackson can be looked at as real world prices. They just seem much higher than anyone could expect to sell these bikes for. A plain bearing crankshaft 750 that nobody was impressed with when they were new for $4,200...Hope I'm wrong, hope they are real world prices.1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw. No doubt very nice bikes. Way nicer than I see but an "83" GS1100 with 18K mi. & some repainted parts for $6,600, For me just don't seem real. Let me add, when watching Mecum or Barrett Jackson on TV, I very rarely see anything that seems realistic...to me.1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw. Most of us are riding "runners", not "lookers".
Original cosmetic condition is getting more and more rare, and makes a huge, huge difference in value.
Originality is murkier. For example, that red 1100E had original shocks and brake lines, which I don't think anyone in their right mind would keep if they want to actually ride the bike. Fortunately, these are relatively trivial to replace, and I suppose you could carefully place the original bits on a shelf in case some weirdo wanted them.
As to why Kawasakis have commanded a premium for so long, I can only guess. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me, other than Kawasaki was the first to develop a reputation for performance starting with the 2-cycle models, and of course the Z1 bombshell.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

Can you imagine the time and money you would have to put into one of our "runners" to get them to the shape of some of the bikes that are sold at these auctions?? I put about $2,000 and about 6 months, into a $500 1978 GS1000, and don't think I'll ever do that again! Even though I am pleased with the end result!
