A year and a half ago my priorities changed. I was wasting my free time not doing anything productive - I knew that needed to change. I sold a video games system and bought a motorcycle....but not just any motorcycle. A motorcycle that was completely disassembled. The previous owner was going to fully restore it and make it into a cafe racer but realized how much time/energy it would take and wanted to cut their losses. It's the perfect bike for me. I bought it for the purpose of learning how to put a motorcycle completely back together. I have experience working on cars, but no previous experience on motorcycles.
At first, figuring out where every bolt, washer, the part had to go was overwhelming, but now it's almost like I've learned the 'GS language'. The mechanics of the GS frame, parts, and components make a lot more sense to me, but that's not to say I don't have any questions. I still have a lot of questions! Every question that I find an answer to helps me build a mental, and physical, framework of how everything goes together. Sometimes the information I'm looking for is difficult to find sifting through the internet since my questions are pretty specific, but the internet has a lot of general information on it. I'm hoping to find someone I can message or call to discuss carburetor questions (running pods) and electrical questions.
Please comment or send me a direct message if you would be willing to help me out! I would really appreciate it!
Thanks!
Mike
