You will have to look at specific years and models and cross reference the parts fiches on a site like partshark.com. Look a the Generator page. On some years they call it a STARTOR, we know that ain't right. Anyway, a brief look shows that some 80s models of 550 and 650 shared the same 18-pole stator (I'm sure lots of other years/models/displacements as well), Some earlier 550 models had a 12-pole stator. You've gotta do a bit of picking around.
Oh, and welcome to the forum.
We like pictures, and signatures with your bike(s) years/models, too.

Thanks for the info. Got a new one off eBay but the gasket isn’t the same as mine is. I’m assuming they sent me one for a 550. Gotta do some testing. The repair manual says it should produce 80volts AC between the terminals from the stator at 4000 rpm. I have a voltmeter on the bike. Took it for a 85 mile ride Sunday. It will maintain 13.2 volts DC while cruising at 4000-5000 rpm. But drops to 12.7 at around 2500. Im hesitant to break the engine case unless I know for sure it’s the stator.

13.2 volts is poor performance. Did you remove the stator loop and clean up the wiring to eliminate resistance?Ed

I'd skip straight to this. Even if you are using a shunt R/R, it should be wired like this...
