    1982 Suzuki GS 650G

    Hello,

Fairly new to rebuilding "New Born"

    Bought a broken Suzuki GS650G

    Broken As
"Accident" - Dents on the tank , Engine cover scuffs and what not - after the accident abandoned for 5 years and now to me for a new restart a new life I guess...

At first i just wanted it to run but you know life gives and when it does it gives abundantly!

    Wires Toasted
Wiring harness messed with (Previous owner)
    Wont run - Carb mess
    Dash Broken
Front and rear breaks I think hitting the surface of disks!
    grease everywhere

    New plans for my motorcycle
Wiring harness upgrade (M unit) don't want bulky wiring
    Dash upgrade
    New switches
    New handlebar
    Brat Style seats
    Sandblast
    Coat
    rebuild
    Rewire
    Ride

Once i rejuvenated and refuel my bank account

    maybe new forks
    new triple tree
    and some more custom work!

Did you ever see the movie “A Bridge Too Far” ? I admire ambition, but this might be a sequel . Did previous owner reveal bikes running condition before the accident?
engine parts for the 650 shafty are tough to find new…..other stuff not too bad though on used market.
My 650L has been very reliable @66k+ miles, so they’re worth the effort.
    Good luck!

Good luck. As long as the engine turns over you'll likely be able to revive it. Be methodical & follow the forum instructions for carbs, stator, RR etc.

If you want to simplify the front end to go with that look.. put a single twinpot on there, you'll still have more power than the stock twin brake setup and less weight too.

with some miracle it should run!! already deep into the mud ...also engine was running before it sat for a while.
the previous owner mentioned that it was running prior to the day i bought it - it was turning over and almost started once - but later discovered fuel not reaching engine.. so at the moment cleaning up what needs to be cleaned and trying my best to keep my sanity

I got the motorcycle running last night

until last night i was trying to get through the tunnel of find hope in this motorcycle but after a months of late nights because that's the only time I can work and rewiring the whole thing with a m unit (not bragging)

I got it running motorcycle fired at first
And then ran for solid 5 secs (please note that the tank isnt attached at this stage still working on cleaning it out! Used an auxiliary tank and some quick start to get it going at first)

Will be trying to see if i can get it going on with the oem tank today!

We all admire persistence …..and any progress is good. I’m not sure why you don’t want to get more done with the auxiliary tank to get it running longer…..to rule out tank/ petcock issues. Sitting for 5 years is going to require carb work or a miracle to restore decent running

I see carb work coming in next on my list
I wanted to run it longer on aux tank but that aux tank is garbage and was leaking gas so just ran it with some quick start to see if wiring and plugs were okay!

but I see light at the end of my tunnel!!

                hahahaa!

Scoop a coolant recovery tank from crashed atv or snowmobile …to repurpose as aux fuel tank…

I looked around for this everyone that I reach out to is asking for 100-125 on a coolant recovery tank!

But i found this but not sure if it will function the same way as expected

                      Any thoughts?

I have always used my stock tank. Stick it on a shelf with petcock overhanging edge (or I use the "wheelie bin" trash cans we have here) and get yourself a long length of fuel pipe. Put petcock on Prime.

Nessism has a cool home made one out of ABS pipe a cap & a brass fitting. You don't necessarily need a petcock, you can clamp the pipe or bend it back on itself and clamp or tape it.

Got too antsy! I found on Facebook marketplace auxiliary tank!!
but ended up making my own with the parts I had

had the motorcycle running for 5mins! And all 4 cylinder worked as expected!!

More to do more to finish up
