    First start on Auxiliary tank
    55 F outside

running lean at the moment as there’s not airbox installed

Not sure why smoke is coming from the surface of exhaust maybe the temperature outside or the paint on the exhaust done by previous owner will be taking off the paint later
noticed a few other things but I’m assuming need to inspect once I service the carbs appropriately.

To be honest at first after seeing smoke out of the engine I got scared thinking that the motorcycle was gonna catch on fire any moment!! Lol

Sounds like it's only running on two cylinders.

I did a water spray test (all 4 pipes were hot and about the same reaction to water... Also checked to see if both exhaust was sending out smoke!

sparks and compression were also on point did a compression test!

It’ll. be the paint. If they used bbq type or rattle can ceramic it smokes. Less so if you cure it slowly ( better for longevity too)

Random comment re aux tanks... I bought what I thought was going to be a decent one off Amazon back when I tore into my first bike. I'm not sure if this is the same brand, but it's the exact same style: https://www.amazon.com/ALPHA-MOTO-Mo...dp/B004NV42PQ/

It worked fine a few times, but I left gas in it overnight once and came back to most of it on the floor of the garage. The gas ate through a weak spot in the bottom where the plastic nipple connects to the tank.

So if you do decide to buy an aux tank, I would lean towards one that has an actual fitting and/or seal of some kind, instead of just a plastic molded-in nipple.

Also, lots of people just use the cheapest small engine fuel tank they can find and rig up their own hanging system.
