New Guy Posting In The Appropiate Place!

    What up,

This is my second time around, my first time was with a GS450L several years ago, now I have a 77 GS750 that I'm ripping apart to get into a frankenbike build. I've had several bikes over just a few years but now I'm doing my first tear down and build. I've acquired a 95 CBR 900RR that I'm using the complete front and rear ends for. With engine plans in the air, I'm undecided on rebuilding the kick start motor or going the usual 7/11 swap. The 1100 motor would be fun but I think a bit too much, on the other hand the 750 motor is a boat anchor that reminds me of a riding a harley, in which, I'm not a fan.

I live in the Nashville, TN area.

Welcome back - I would love to do a 7-11 swap one day, in the meantime I'll be tuning in to what you end up doing, especially when it comes to fitting the CBR parts onto a GS frame...

7-11 Swap is fun but make sure you GS is equipped with a good set of stoppers... The bike will be a maniac and frame flex is an issue... I did it once, awesome swap, totally different bike, I sold it for it felt unsafe to ride. LOL might be the ticket for some, not so much for me... LOL

Welcome back and good luck with the project, I'm not a big fan of the GS750 8V engines, partial to the BIG BLOCK 16V's... Still am

      Have fun!

It's gonna be a long term project brother lol. I've got a daily rider bike for the time being so I'm gonna take my time and see where it ends up going. I'll finally show up with a picture like BLAM!

A B King owner saying it felt unsafe lol? But seriously, I do understand that making something refined takes engineering and possibly that is why I might stick with the overall build and save a crazy motor for next time.

Yeah, someone just asked me for chicken wings and didn't get specific, so...

I think the neighborhood cats will have a party.

Check this out: the package called "BBQ flavored WYNGZ*" says in the fine print, "*contains no wing meat."

It's nice that the gov't forces such honesty. Now if only people would read before signing or paying.

LOL The B-King has more caliper pistons in 1 front caliper then my old GS had in all of it's brakes. LOL

The Frame also doesn't flex in a wheelie... No death wobble either...

LOL the list goes on and on....

                      Welcome aboard brother!

I had an original (1973) Kaw Z1 - I know about flex and death wobbles (somewhere there's a pic of me from 1980 bandaged from the waist up like a mummy).

And the brakes - one disk up front and a drum in the rear. But even with all of those items improved or fixed, I'm guessing that B-King engine is enough to get you into trouble all on it's own. Be careful. Try and spend some time at less than 100 mph.

Thanks Rob. It's quite the change to get used to 91wft/lbs and 165whp. I've been pretty good. Break's 100mph too easy. But it also breaks the tire easy too... Couple of times I've been in 2nd gave it to her and she will spin, look to the mirrors and see a cloud of smoke... This rear tire isn't going to last long... But I've been good!! I promise!!!

I had death wobble on my GS750 with the 7-11... Must have been going north of 120mph trying to get away from my bud on his FZ6. and the front wheel turned into the front wheel of a shopping cart... All I thought was, I'm going to die. Luckily I was fine, never went that fast again though.

And that's why I debate on doing the 7-11 swap, I know I don't need a liter bike, especially one less engineered. I'm gonna get banned for saying this but I think the horsepower wars should be illegal. Keep it on the track or in closed areas, IMO. Godspeed be with you brother!
