New guy from just north of Pittsburgh.

    Hey all.

Name's Mike. New to this forum but I've been a pretty active member over at Dotheton.com and some other forums for years. I've had all kinds of bikes in the past. Hondas, Harleys, Kawasakis, Yamahas, etc... In the process of aquiring my first GS though. A '77 GS750 to be specific. Looking forward to hanging around and learning about the bike from you good folks. Thanks for having me, and I'll try not to be too much of a pain in the ass

    Welcome to the site, Mike.
As a bike site veteran you know that when you get your mitts on the GS pics are a requirement.

Thanks for the welcome folks. I was wondering how long it would take you to find this Rich... Lol.

I have no immediate plans as far as work for the bike outside of some general clean up until winter, but once the snow flies here in PA I'd like to work on a few basic bolt on upgrades. Once that time rolls around, I'll be sure to start a thread.

Mike, once you get that thing running reliably I think you're really going to enjoy it. Did you happen to find out what kind of filters those are? I would start hunting down a stock air box if you can...

                        ....and a second front disc.
Looks like a decent starting point.

No clue what filters they are but a stock airbox was definitely part of the plan. Thanks for the heads up Rich.

This winter I'd like to upgradenthe entire front end to something a little more modern. Nothing crazy. Currently looking into the SV650 forks.

I could be wrong, but keep an eye on the lengths / ride height. Going from longer forks & a 19" wheel to shorter forks w/ a 17" wheel might be a little drastic.

On 450, it wasn't a big deal to put a different front end on. Now my 650 was a different story..... but I don't have a 750 or an SV, so that's why I said I could be wrong.
