New gs owner, long time rider

Never had a GS, always admired from afar. Had a Katana for a while which i very much enjoyed but always preferred the older 80's bikes.

    So I got one.

'80 gs750 - I've started work on some of the problem issues so far. Needs an air filter for the stock airbox - procured a k&n su-1250 locally for cheap. Will begin dialing in the carbs today, and I have a little project in mind for a bullet style rear tail-light. Has issues bogging mid throttle and some backfiring going on but I'll hold judgement off until I square away the airbox and filter setup which I plan on sticking with as I'd like this to be as reliable as possible.

Overall it runs a little rough but when it goes I can feel the potential. Can't wait to get it tuned up nice and have her purring..

    Todo's
Need tach and speedo, something small and unique. Using a phone mount and "car mode" app with speed and maps for now, but no tach.
Carb sync. Reset pilots and mains, check jetting and needle jet, bowls, etc. set to stock and tune from there with new air filter
New gelmat battery - purchased, need to modify the battery box for install
    Cleanup and hide wiring

    Undecided's
Leave the tank and rear end finish bare and paint everything else black (motor, pipes etc) or leave the motor and pipes chrome and black out everything else.
Red accents.. valve covers? Love me some subtle reds.

Looking for ideas, and anyone in the Twin Cities who's looking to ride..
