New 78 GS750 owner from Chicago here!
Hi everyone! I came into a great deal on a 78 gs750 recently and have been researching the forum for information for a couple weeks now. There is a wealth of knowledge here and I appreciate the heartache you have all gone through to create these write-ups and how to's. Now for the juice on my bike. She's in very rough shape and has been sitting in a garage for at least three years. There are dents and dings and broken pieces all over it. The previous owner rattle can sprayed it silver and then cracked the master cylinder reservoir which when stored the handlebars were turned to the left letting it leak all over the tank making an already sore sight look worse pulling up all the paint. Engine has an oil leak from the cam cover at least and the exhaust is pitted and rusty. The rear tail lamp is gone replaced with red tape. The duck bill is in great shape though! and it runs like a champ when you hook it to a battery which I could not believe! So with the amount of work it is going to take to restore I have decided to go the bobber/cafe racer route with it. I know many of you are purists and will scoff at the idea of making this into a project as such, but this is my bike not yours. I respect the idea of purity and original engineering just don't stuff it down my throat. I will be starting a second thread in the build section (essentially a copy/paste) Pics to come soon!!!Tags: None
