Steve made a good point, about the signals and safety wire. As far as keeping it, I like old machines and this one sounds great, (old Kerker header and muffler), I have many other, "projects", that also need to be completed and this one and the motorcycle lift are simply in the way. I figured I would run down the story and sell it for 500.00, I usually buy high and sell low...The bike is a gem to me, like many others that I have owned.

I like to know the history of the bikes I buy as well. I have an 83 750ES without lowers and love it.

Where are you located? For $500 I'm very interested if you sell it, but you are likely far, far away from me, as that's how my luck goes with these kind of things...

Correct, 700s were US only. The AMA rules didn't change when the tariff went into effect, Superbikes were still 750s. The 700's were all destroked 750s, so getting back to 750 was just a matter of dropping in a Canadian model crank, rods and pistons. (and maybe cams) I think Honda actually imported the VFR 750 (at a higher price) along with the 700.
I don't remember those lowers being available from Suzuki here, but could easily be wrong about that.

I knew I was in the right place for information, great site, great people! I was just looking at a site,

Kickstand - The Strange Case of the Asian 700s and Honda’s 1985 VF700CIf you cruise listings of bikes for sale from the 1980s, you’ll notice an odd...

They talk about the sales and reasons for the "700cc" tariff bikes, I was working at a Harley shop at the time, how funny, the Evolution motor needed more help than a tariff to be competitive. I left HD sold my Harley walked into the Suzuki dealer and bought a Katana 1100, electric windshield and all, the need for speed. I am in central California and there is no shortage of bikes to try, buy and ride. I built a little Harley frankenstein that I currently fool with, who knows whats next, so many great bikes so little time.

          Rich,

Neat site, the racing folks are probably a bit busy. Your site sonicsprings.com, stellar! Proper suspension has always been tops for performance on and off the track.

          Bookmarked,

          Bob

              Dorkburger,

Hey, not a problem! All of the folks who have posted have provided great information. I was just sitting here thinking about some of the great bikes I've owned. Which one will be next that I just can't live without...there is the 1960's period perfect knucklehead chopper that I haven't seen since the 70's, leaned against a garage wall since the owner was killed in Vietnam, or a GSXR that pushes my eyeballs back in my head at 150mph, or maybe....right?
