Back to the 1980 850 gl

    Hey all,
I was a member here a few years back when I bought my 1980 850 gl. After throwing a new stator into it and getting it running I rode it from Denver Colorado to San Diego California and back.

Almost immediately after that trip, I had a kid, then another, and the gs has just sat for a couple years.....

I've been recently getting the itch to ride again and I think I'm going to finally make the time to fix the old girl up. I apologize in advance for all my soon to come noob questions!

You say you were a member here before, but if the mega-welcome is new to you, then be sure to click on it. Suzuki service manuals, tutorials, and a whole lot more are yours with just a few clicks. See the link in in my signature below.

Tried to start the bike today, in order to roll it into the garage (up a long, steep hill) with no luck. She won't even turn.

Guess it's time to learn about the electrical system

What are your battery's voltage readings when the key is off, on, and while pushing the start button?

Did you put a new battery in it?
