    New Member from Tennessee!

    IMG_0954.JPG

Hey guys and gals, I'm Jesse and the proud new owner of a 1982 GS450. PPO had removed instruments and turn signals and did a (lousy) custom solo seat, going for a bobber look. Seller indicated the CDi box is bad so it doesn't run just yet, but I have access to at least a couple of spares (my brother has had 3 or 4 GS's) plus I have an old Boyer ignition off an air cooled BMW laying around here somewhere. I expect to get her running, throw on some bar-end signals (thank goodness the harness is completely intact), put good tires on, then ride the heck out of her. Oh yeah, did I mention I live 20 miles from the dragon? :-D

This is my second likely-ride-able bike (so like #6 overall), my other ride is a 89 Ninja 250 that just ate an engine so it's waiting for me to swap the motor off a parts bike in. I have also owned a handful of dirtbikes and 4-wheelers (currently have a Grizzly 660 for farm/shop duties). My first street bike was a 1970 BMW r 60/5, that my dad and I picked up as a project when I was 15.

I daily drive a 2010 Ford Flex but when it's not too hot and I don't mind getting under 12 mpg I also have a 1988 Range Rover classic with a 2" body lift and 235/85-16 wrangler duratracs.

I work in environmental testing and analysis, I split my time between Maryville (outside of Knoxville, TN) and Columbia, which is south of Nashville. I am dad to a 7 year old boy and step dad to a 90 pound german shepherd lap dog. Other interests include mountain biking, hiking, offroading, and Brazilian jiujitsu.

Welcome to the GSR. You live in a sweet area for riding!
    sigpic2002 KLR650 Ugly but fun!
2001 KLR650 too pretty to get dirty

Life is a balancing act, enjoy every day, "later" will come sooner than you think. Denying yourself joy now betting you will have health and money to enjoy life later is a bad bet.

I know right? Probably a rattle can paint job but it looks alright from a distance. Plus the lady loves the green so it's liable to stay.

Jesse, I ran across this thread from a few months ago and thought I add that my son and I are Suzuki GS riders living in Maryville. My son, IanC on this forum works at Smoky Mtn HD as a service writer and you can't miss his Triumph 675 parked amongst the other employees HDs. I'd love to get together sometime.

It may have to wait until June as I'm in Germany until then.

Sweet! Definitely hit me up when you're back in the states, we'll have to do some riding! When it warms up I'll look for Ian's Triumph around town.

I guess I should update my bikes a bit, I picked up a GS1000L basket case around the first of the year that I've been piecing back together. Put on a pair of nice low superbike bars (upside down bars look RETARDED in my humble opinion), and stuck a baffle into the Kerker race exhaust that the a PO had cut off right in front of the canister. I will probably lose the big stepped L seat in favor of a flat seat. Then depending on how it rides I'll probably get sonic fork springs, a GS1100 swingarm, and maybe some 1" longer Hagon shocks. Thinking the 1000 could be a fun dragon specialist when all is said and done.

Hey Jesse, welcome to GSR. If you ever need a hand or want to get together for lunch drop me a line. As dad (Chris) said, I'm usually bombing around on my 675R but I have a few GS's projects going on in the garage as well.

Thanks for the welcome Ian! Ghostgs1 pointed me at @Super who is in Maryville as well. When the weather gets better (I slipped and slid all the way to work today) we all need to hook up and do an after-work ride. Great roads around here for sure.

I skipped the ride to work today and took the cage.
