Hello,

I'm fairly new to GS's but I'm brand new to GS Resources. I shouldn't say I'm brand new...I've lurked and read all sorts of informative posts on here for many questions I've searched, but now I'm a member and trying to find some answers to my questions that I've not been able to find from my own searches.

I picked up a 1980 GS750L about a year ago and did a sort of brat style build with it on the cheap. I did no performance mods and it was strictly a cosmetic build. I used left over paint I had from an XS650 hardtail build and only have about $650 in this one. It's a blast to ride and looks decent to me anyway. I have since picked up another GS, an '83 GS750E. I'm not a fan of the monoshock rear but it was cheap and I decided to try a cafe style build on this one...the build thread is on DTT here: http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=69081.0 I have a carb issue with this bike. I'll start a thread in the proper section to ask about it...stock jetting has been changed and I'm not sure what I'm actually dealing with.

Thanks, It was a fun project. Getting rid of the HUGE seat and rear fender helped a ton to bring things into proper proportions IMO.

Usually when I see what someone calls a "brat" or a "café" (I don't know the difference between the two), I look at it and say "looks like made it harder to ride".
But in your case here, looks like an improvement over an L.

I appreciate that it still has rear suspension and an exhaust system and brakes.

Thanks Redman, I've been told that before and I think I agree. My intent was a "brat" style bike that was an improvement over stock. I took the stock styling and toned it all down. The stock seat on the L is horrible IMO and the rear fender/tail light is gigantic. That rear fender is actually the rear off of the xs650 I hardtailed...I think it's just the right size.
