I'm all for criticism, I just didn't think that many of you would make such a big fuss over me unbolting the stock mufflers. It is temporary until I get my 4:1 and reverse cone muffler. I can't stand the sound of stock exhaust. These bikes sound great loud and that's what I wanted. I will most certainly not be changing my setup because it upsets a few of you who think it's too loud. In my opinion the bike is still fairly quiet considering the pipes are pretty small in diameter. To each their own.

Good condition stock mufflers are getting harder to find and are prized by those that want to restore their vintage bikes.Ed

from the first post three pages back "All fluids flushed and changed with synthetic" so how is that working on an old bike?
It's problematic for many people I've spoken with so I stay with "old" oil...
I don't know what condition the bike was in when the project was started but I have problems cutting up re-storable bikes but that's just me...a junker I have no problem converting to whatever suits me...
loud exhaust- yeah my neighbors and their Harleys **** me off to no end, especially in the early morning or late at night...my CBX with it's 6 into 6 is even louder but when I ride through a residential area I make a point of kicking it up a gear or two to keep noise level down to a tolerable rumble...1979 CBX, AW440 Maico, GS1150EF

Bike runs and rides great with the synthetic fluids. I'm sure it would also perform well with standard fluids but it's just a personal thing for me.

Wow, this thread went way weird, nice job on the bike man. Cut, chop, do whatever you like, a bike is a reflection of its owners personality. I'm loud as hell = so is my bike.

Looking good so far. Would look great with a shorty muffler and some pipe wrap. I toyed with going to a shorty myself to keep the pipe from dragging in corners.

I would do something with the exhaust but that's my view. If you are happy with it then that is what matters. I plan on doing slash cut with mine and wrap them.
