New Here, First Bike, 79 GS550

    Hello,

I just bought my first motorcycle, a 1979 GS550! I'll no doubt have plenty of questions as I have so much to learn. Look forward to becoming a part of what seems to be a great community here.

        Welcome!

The 550s make very good first bikes. Yours looks very nice indeed.

          Max,

          Welcome to GSR.

Very nice all stock 550 there.
Let me add, one of the few remaining, all stock examples of a late 70s GS.
Paint and chrome all shiny, stock seat yet even.

          First bike.
How are you going about learning to ride...?
Let me suggest a MSF class.
Search for Motorcycle Safety Foundation BRC to find one near you.
Do not delay. Around here the years worth of schedule will have been full by now. (at least the state subsidized ones that cost $35)

Your photo makes me miss having a kickstarter (that I have not had since 1982).
Yes, all photo of your bike should be from that side, to annoy as many of us as possible har har har.

          .

              The bike looks great.
I agree with Redman on the MSF course.
