Oh, Wow!
Beautiful GS!!! I have the forks off an 82' GS1100 and the fender looks the same. Back to your bike...
Post more pics...Especially the front end (hint, hint). I like backdrops too...Virginia is beautiful...As is the east coast. I'm just up the road in Delaware and looking forward to this riding season. Enjoy your new bike!

That's a beauty! Especially when you know where it came from. I have some short stalked, oem Kat turn signals that would clean up that rear end a little...Current Rides: 82 GS1100E, 00 Triumph 955 Speed Triple:twistedevil:, 03 Kawasaki ZRX1200, 01 Honda GL1800, '15 Kawasaki 1000 Versys

He's super, and gave me all of his parts and accessories he had with it.
Funny thing, this has been a runner until he fired it up for me to take home. It has sprung a leak in the carb fuel rails, but he gave me a set of O-rings to fix this. I'll pull the carbs shortly and install the new O-rings.
It also has a fork tube that keeps leaking in spite of new oil seals. Not sure what I'm going to do about that yet.GS History: 1980 GS1000E, 1982 GS1100G, 1983 GS1100ES, 1986 GSXR750,

If a fork seal leaks after replacement, check for pits/chips. Usually though its time for fork bushings. Seal may be good, but excess wear allows free play at seal area allowing weepage.Current Rides: 82 GS1100E, 00 Triumph 955 Speed Triple:twistedevil:, 03 Kawasaki ZRX1200, 01 Honda GL1800, '15 Kawasaki 1000 Versys

I found out the hard way that even though Haynes and the factory manuals don't make a note of it, the seals are directional. I had one flipped. The resulting leak was a full ring of oil around the fork leg whenever it was compressed. It gave me a clue during install, but I didnt know enough to pick up on it.Last edited by dorkburger; 03-19-2017, 03:24 PM.sigpic
