    '82 GS1100E finally...

I remember drooling over the GS1100E when I was a young punk picking up dirt bike parts at the dealership. Bought a new '86 GSXR750 a couple years later. Uncomfortable and not very useful. All these years I've been thinking about those '82-83 1100s. I've had many bikes in that time, mostly dual sports and dirt bikes. Most recent streetbike was an '06 FZ1, which was a cool bike but kinda boring with little character and an on-off switch FI system. I've been casually looking for a clean 1100E for the last couple years. The original owner of this one found me here on this forum and contacted me (bike wanted post in the forum). I drove 7 hours to pick up this gem. 10k original miles, beautiful showroom condition. Bike was extremely well kept and had already received a few tasteful upgrades by the original owner (braided lines, fork brace, progressive springs, Daytona bars, oil cooler). After sitting for five years unstarted, I gave it some fresh gas, new battery, new plugs, changed oil and filter and she fired right up. Carbs were pulling air though so I pulled the rack and am doing a complete rebuild including throttle shaft seals. Carbs are almost done. Put some fresh Avons on it and will also adjust valves shortly. Shouldn't need much more to be good for another 30 years!

One of the best colors, too. The chrome mufflers and silver engine look better than the black on the '83 in my opinion.

                Great bike.

                Nice photo.

                Nice story.

Also check the intake boot o-rings. See "Cycle O-Rings" web site (a fine GSR member).
