    Hello from Hartland Vermont

SUZZZZZZZZZZZ.jpgJust picked up this 81 GS 650 GLX, for $300.00 It's got 4,200 miles on the clock. It's almost all there except the side covers. I currently own an 86 Cavalcade, and a 99 1500 Intruder LC. I've been riding for 51 years, and wanted a lightweight, old school bike to zip around the local area on. This bike supposedly has coil issues, and will not start. I look forward to learning about this machine, and working on it during the long cold Vermont winter. I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions, so bear with me, and y'all have a safe riding day!

Welcome! I too made the switch to a smaller lightweight bike last winter in the form of an 82 GS450t that hadn't been on the road in 22 years and am glad I made the switch. Easy to work on, easy to push in and out of parking areas and much better suited for getting back into remote camping areas. It's not well suited for long rides down the interstate but you get to see a lot more by sticking to state highways.

              Welcome to GSR.

Other than the missing sidepanel(s), it looks to be nice stock condition.

If someone said "coil issuess", I would interpret that as "ignition issues".
THe coils themselves are quite reliable. I would more suspect the sparkplug caps if is a ignition problem.

Do you know how long the bike has been sitting unused....?

Do some basic checks and post each problem in appropriate section of the fourm.

              SHow us the Cavalcade too.
