    San Antonio?

    Hey GSR
I'm traveling to San Antonio next week, and will have free time on Tuesday.
I'd love to add the state of Texas to my motorcycle map...
Anybody in SA who's willing to let me hop on their bike for a few miles?

Your about a month to early. I am moving to SA at the end of the month. Leaving right after Memorial day. Would gladly have let you take the old girl for a ride. There are lots of nice places to ride when you get out of the city. Hope you find something.

      Some rental options in SA.

if you have 6-8 hours, head toward Leaky not Fredericksburg nor keervile ( those are more touristy). For better riding roads head to fm337 & 336 & 335. Look for frio canyon motorcycle stop near Leaky.

      (I have been there twice)

Hi, My very first post here on GSR. The roads Redman referred to are known as The Three Twisted Sisters - perhaps the best know motorcycle route in Texas. Absolutely beautiful this time of year. I live in South Austin and have ridden many of the "Hill Country" roads in the region. If you do ride the Sisters, try to stop in at the Lone Star Motorcycle Museum in Vanderpool, TX. Well worth the $7 to get in. Sorry I don't have my GS ready to ride, otherwise I'd help you add the great state of Texas.

Welcome to The GSR. Would be good for you to introduce yourself in the Owners section.

I went to a Texas Hill Country ride organised here on the GSR in 2005. Was great.
Then in 2009 our daughter had a long term assignment in San Antionio area (NewBraunfels, Sequin), so had to go visit her, and rent a bike for a day.... had to.

I recommend the area to about any rider, and tell them they should do it before any more of the roads get "improved".

Anyway, do introduce yourself some more in your own posting. Can chat more then.

Thanks for asking! Vanderpool is 70 miles west of me. I'll ask the family if they're interested!
I have my cousin asking a buddy if I could ride one of his bikes -- my cousin has a friend who has a collection of Royal Enfields maybe? Also might have a little Kaw available. I told my cousin to tell his buddy I'm a man of God, so we'll see. It could happen tonight, but I'm not really counting on it.

Kerry, It sounds like you may be north of San Antonio - perhaps New Braunfels??? If you do get a bike to ride, I can plot a good route for you. The roads north and west of New Braunfels are my go-to rides for late afternoon or evenings when I have an hour or so to decompress. Some very nice loops to experience.

Not far from UTSA, ten or eleven o'clock on the 1604 loop.

My cousin's friend is out of town and I fly home Wednesday noon, so no go this trip. Oh well.

Come the extra 250 miles to see me on the border, and I'll let you take my 1100 for a spin. Go right up to the border if you like. However, I'm not sure I'd like to see it go ACROSS the border.

                      Heading home today.
By the way, here's the reason I was in San Antonio: My cousin Larry was killed in a car accident outside Corpus two weeks ago, while on the job with AT&T. AT&T was incredible to my family: https://www.caller.com/story/news/lo...io/1168703001/
