Hello everyone I'm new to working on Suzuki's and I'm now working to 2. A 1981 gsx400s and a 1980 gs750. I also own a 79 cb650 and a kz440 and have owned a 1969 cb750. So I'm no stranger to old bikes. I'm a welder by trade, self taught tin basher and wiring/mechanical. I'll see if I can share some pictures with you fine folks.

Hi! I have nearly the same bike in red...an 81 GSX400E which is the same overall except no fairing like your "S" has.

You can get a pretty good seat cover from Pit Replica on ebay if you are staying with the original...

        go here for much info

you will particularly want the shop manuals. You need two- the GS250T-GS300L '82 Service Manual (91MB)
and the addendum which covers the differences that the 400s have from the gsx engined 250 and 300s above GSX400 Service Manual (5.2MB)

otherwise, the Haynes for the gsx400 which you might even be able to order at Canadian Tire

Thanks for the kind welcome I'll be starting a build post soon and will put a link. Bought this little guy for 300$ sofar I'm in about 150 with battery and fluid etc. Got it running but won't idle. I get about 30 seconds of idle and can keep it going longer if I keep on the throttle. Gave the carbs a rough cleaning and started right up. If I give the throttle a blip it will idle down and die.

Some of the smaller issues I've notice

Revs dont match the tach. Or it's just really idling that slow.

Need an air filter wondering if it's easier to use unijet foam and cut my own

          Needs tires

          Battery strap
