Thanks for the comments and the link, The bike is good for its age but its not running right, I aws a bit suspicious when it was started from cold without any choke, then when the wife followed me home she tells me its smoking, turns out to be a combination of condensation in the exhaust, a foam air filter that looked like it was last cleaned 10 years ago, wrong spark plugs and gap, All the plugs were black it was running that rich and it needed almost a litre of oil.
I bought the bike from a dealer who told me it was regularly serviced by them, Either his mechanics are idiots or he was lying.
At least once home I removed the air filter cleaned and gapped the plugs and gave it a short run, result the plugs were the perfect colour. now as soon as I get time I will do the valves, and a full service. but for now it can stay in the garage until I get a spare day or two to look at it

You can also create a photo album or two, or three right here on this site and use it as your photo sharing host and then like Redman said, use the album on this site to post your pictures.

Look here for manaul (and lots of other info Cliff had accumulated)

THe manaul may show the hub (joint assembly) IN the rear wheel, but doesnt say anything about inpsecting it or replacing it. Apparently the manaul was before they had any idea it was a wear item.

Hi Marco, welcome to the GSR from a fellow South African from down south near Cape Town! Your bike is in very nice condition and appears to have been well looked after, even though you have found a few small "surprises".

Another new member (username Danie.e) in Vereeniging which is relatively close to you, also has two GS1000G's and a GS850G.

The availability of new OEM parts for these bikes via Suzuki dealers from the main Suzuki importers in Johannesburg is very good, so you will be able to keep it in good running order.

            Enjoy the ride!
