I am a bit excited to finally get my Suzuki GS1000g after a couple of years of trying to get it to crank over. Woo hoo, It didn't fire, But it will. I think. The last owner had an electrical problem in the starter system and pretty much pulled the bike to bits. After getting it to crank yesterday and finding no spark. i swapped out the regulator from an 850G unit with the same part number, and i have spark! Even tested it myself. I'm pretty happy because i normally never do anything electrical if i can help it. But very thankful now to now have a test light and multimeter in my kit. And i got to tell the lady at the shop where i brought it. Hey, I'm multi tasking.
i ordered a set of factory side covers from the local Suzuki dealer (AU$88 each!) Who cares, money to the wind baby. This thing cranks over. And, its a credit to Suzuki for stocking 37 year old parts. I can't think of any other manufacturer that would.
The seat has been recovered, the top end is a wiseco 1075, Clipons added and i may have a set of rear sets to suit it. It still needs a lot of going over. Brakes, masters, suspension and tyres, paint but just these small wins are enough to put a fire in my belly and get this bike on the road again.
Nice to meet you all and i hope you all have an awesome day
Phillip
