    newbie introduction - 1981 suzuki gsx1100ex

hello fellow forum members, i'm Justin and been lurking around the forum and doing tonnes of research before i decided to plunge and invest into a classic suzuki bike.

i'm a proud owner of a well-kept 1981 suzuki gsx1100ex. i'm from kuala lumpur, malaysia and over this side of the world the 16-valve is known as gsx1100 with multiple model or year versions like E, EX, ET (with slight variations in decals, tank designs n capacity). when i got the bike it was barely running good (it was kept in storage for quite some time) because the previous owners had changed the exhaust to v&h and k&n filters without doing a proper carb setting.

after multiple settings on the carb, finally got it running well but still not as powerful as i expect it to perform (mid range / top end).

    my to do list:-
    1. front end swap to bandit 1200 mk1 fork, calipers, wheels (collecting and buying all the necessary parts)
    2. rear wheel swap to bandit 1200 mk1
    3. ohlins rear suspension upgrade
    4. dynojet jetkit (i've read somewhere saying that US models put the c clip on the 3rd groove, whilst european models put it at the 4th groove, so not sure if i need to follow this)
    5. total make over of decals (back to the EX version) and colour.. probably black or dark metallic grey with blue / gold decals
    6. longer term project (JE piston 1166cc kit, with kpmi valves), high perf cam etc..

      Welcome.

Is that a vent hose on your oil filler cap? Don't think I've seen that before.

correct that's the vent / breather hose. the end of the hose has a smallish air filter where i just chuck it in the airbox area.. not sure if it helps
