    1987 GS450 new project

Hi Everyone, I picked up an 87 GS450 as a summer project. This my first project bike so looking forward to picking peoples brains and getting schooled!

first thing I'm looking for is a good place to get maintenance parts, Any suggestions??

Best place to start is the "Newbies click here" button at the top of this section. You'll find more goodies there in the way of information than you'll find anywhere else.

My guess is you want it to run, steer and stop first. Usually this means cleaning (as in dipping) the carbs. There's a tutorial on rebuilding those carbs on that link and someone here sells a set of O-Rings for those carbs, that's all you need for parts.

As to the rest, ask! My 450 has been a lot of fun.
    1980 Yamaha XS1100G (Current bike)
    1982 GS450txz (former bike)
LONG list of previous bikes not listed here.

I identify as a man but according to the label on a box of Stauffers Baked Lasagne I'm actually a family of four

Thanks Lab, I’m currently working on getting all the crap out of the tank before I head down stream! And the clymer manual is on the way.

what condition is the scoot in? pictures? parts are easy to get. any of the big oem dealers (rockymountainatv has been good to me for eom parts) you can get parts from. ebay for the rarer things, like a seat pan.

I find working on my motorcycle mildly therapeutic when I'm not cursing.
