    New to me ‘79 GS850

Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I recently acquired a 1979’ GS850 with 12,450 original KM on it for a tinker project that will turn into a road worthy motorcycle. I’ve wanted to do a cafe style build on something for some time, and that was the original plan when I got the bike home. After reading into what the GS850 is and isn’t, working with a budget(none), and still wanting to do a custom build, I’ve settled on just getting the bike back on the road and up to date, keeping everything factory to start. It even came with a Pacifico Aero fairing which is starting to grow on me.lol. I’ve been scouring and learning a lot from the forum for a few weeks now, so I just wanted to say hi for now.

Yep, those fairings will grow on you quickly in the colder time of the year. Never knew of many GS850 race bikes, Drag Race, Road Race nor Cafe Racers. Best thing I've seen for a GS850 is just ride & enjoy, they are great for that. Oh yeah, congrats on the bike & WELCOME

          Welcome to TheGSR.

In cold weather you may appreciate the big fairing.

was many design changes from the 79 to the 80, so, keep that in mind when looking for parts.

          Thanks for introducing yourself.
Some pics of the bike would be good.
