    Nov 2023 BOTM

    Love my little GS650. ​​Chuffed, to have had the bike chosen for this months BOTM.

    Heading back to NZ in 6 weeks. Plan a trip up through the North Island. Do some family and friends and Visit my Family,s Cemetery, Parents/Grandparents, could be the last time, haven't been since my father died in 2001.......Here is another pic. Wish for 6 gears though, why Suzuki had 6 in the 550 and took one out on this bike i will never know.......

      Looks well deserving of BOTM, congrats... Most of my bikes seemed they would have been more comfortable with a 6th gear, or possibly just a taller 5th.

        So did you import this Canadian bike to Aus where you live? Take in on a ferry to NZ (if there is one, long sail, I’m sure)?

            That is a very fine example of the brEed. They are becoming increasingly difficult to find over here. re those the original exhaust? Even rarer, if so.

            Agree with you on the need for a 6th gear.

              Thanks for the kind words. Definately not showroom but overall pretty good for 41 year old.

              Almost as good looking as me at that age

              Sidecovers have cracks around that long fixing bracket, no dents at all in them tank and paint is still above average.unfortunatly he mufflers have developed holes, not real big and looking at a repair, if not will cut and replace. Headers are good so the cut can b far enough back to b hidden under the heat shield

              Only done 13,000 klm's, will have a look at the tappets soon.

              Do need to do some general maintenance, new brake hoses, replace the fork oil, small stuff

              The 650E/G's didn't come to Aus or NZ. Had an XS650 I bought in 1990 when I was in NZ. Used it for transport when I would go back for family obligations, stored at my father's. My son snagged it a few years ago so I found the GS reasonably close to him and bought it to use when visiting him and the grandkids.

              Bike was imported to NZ buy a woman who was teaching in Canada then took it back to NZ when she went home.

                  Very Nice bike...you can always loose a tooth or two on rear sproket for more relaxed cruising, definately will still have enough power at take off

                    Changing the gearing is an option. I find the bike makes good power as it is geared now. Bit reluctant to alter it, planning a good trip over Christmas New year, might change my mind after that.

                      2016 XL883L sigpic Two-tone blue and white. Almost 42 hp! Status: destroyed, now owned by the insurance company. The hole in my memory starts an hour before the accident and ends 24 hours after.
