          Leon,

          Very nice stock condition.

Am imnpressed that not only are you the original owner, but you rebuilt it from crash damage.
Sounds like you yourself too had some serious damage. Good that you have recovered as much as you have.

Bike Even has period correct RWL Dunlop Qualifiers (that I could not find a couple years ago, although for a non-GS).

And good photo also. (which would have to be for BOTM.) (yah, overcast day best for bike photo,ew.)

Although, 1tin location is Iowa, and PhotoOfTheMonth write up mentions Minneapolis.

but, oh, the polished front caliper... does look the same ..... and... oh, yah, there is the same photo in a posting. Yep.

Thank you all, it is a distinct privilege to be honored the Bike of the Month.
I know how hard it is to keep these older bike in shape, and from the looks of it around the forum, there are a lot of dedicated owners, like myself, willing to keep the GS flame burning.

As far as the tires go, these are still in good shape, and I also have two more complete set of NOS RWL Dunlops in storage for future use.

Just to clarify, I do currently live in northern Iowa, where I was born and raised.
At the time of the accident (1987), I was due to separate from the USAF, stationed in Austin TX, and move to the Minneapolis area.
we moved back to Iowa in 1995, and have lived here ever since.

The bike was pranged pretty good, doing a complete end over end flip, front to back into the ditch.
I'm lucky the sucker didn't land on me.

Luckily there was no frame damage at the steering head, but the forks, gauges, handle bars, front wheel, front and rear fender and taillight were all a write off. with all that, the 4 turn signals stayed intact!

These pictures have to be some of my favorite, and it shows just how long time has passed, and I still own the same bike!

Same people in the picture, same location, and even has a Pontiac in the background.

Thanks again every body, I deeply appreciate the honor!

            Leon

P.S. Not sure why the pictures are not showing...only the coding.
