    Free Ride

I'm in love.I'm 25 and two years ago I got a GS850 for FREE. My dad told me about a bike that was free to a good home. The guy got the bike in Texas drove to New York then to Mississippi. The throttle cable broke he didn't want to fix it and rode a bus back to New York, I still have the NY inspection sticker on the front fork. It's got 35217 miles on it and it'll still lay you back and move! tho lately the RR will get smoke'n hot. It's a fast bike and easy to work on.I can do a carb cleaning on this bike in an hour without saperating the carbs. You can change the back tire in 3 hours if you don't take a beer break. The only factory glitch is the charging system. The stator is good and I got another used RR and the wires still burn hot. I dissconnect the RR and ride it till the battery dies

      Good stuff

The info to fix your charging system and RR woes is in the tech section if you feel like working them out.

I got my 850 for free too, although it wasn't in nearly as good shape as it sounds like yours is.

But, its sort of like having a kid. Its free......to begin with. Then suddenly all the bills start piling up. Oh well, who cares! 850's are the best. Of course I'm not biased or anything.

It doesn't sound like you could have gotten a beter deal.
