GS1150 Ignition woes
Last year, my tach started to not fully indicate the engine RPM. It would drop, recover, and sometimes not read at all. But the GS kept running. A few months later, it would occasionally run on two cylinders. The problem was always intermittant. One coil was out of spec, so it was replaced, as well as a couple of plug wires. Did not fix the two cylinder drop out issue. Swapping out the magnetic pickups didn't help, nor swapping in the spare tachmeter. The igniter always passed the static testing procedure. Finally, I gave up and ordered a igniter replacement from Hyper Performance in New Zealand. Bolted it in, and the GS1150 is back to life! Only downside was it takes over a month shipping to get it from there to here.
