    Got Kanc ???

If you have, you know what I mean !!

34 and 1/2 miles of pure New Hampshire/White Mountains heaven.
Up to almost 3000 feet and not too many people.

What started as a little Sunday morning ride yesterday took me up to the Kancamagus Highway
Only about 50 miles from my front door and some unbelivable riding. Just me and my Suzi, giving the new front tire and new coils a test run.
In the 60's and not a cloud in the sky.
One of those fine days it is a pleasure to just be you and your ride.

Stopped up near the summit to enjoy Mother Nature, and thought I was losing my hearing as it had gotten so quite I didn't hear a thing beside Suzi ticking every once in a while as she cooled off.

Overall a beautiful day and a trip I am going to have to lead with my New England crew\\/

That looks like a fantastic ride!

When I rode the 550 on my New England ride I did the Kanc. That was about 6 or so years ago. I've got a pic of the bike at the intersection of the Kanc and Bear Branch (or is it Bear Hollow or Bear Den, Bear somethin')road. Somewhere off Bear Road isn't there a covered bridge that has a shop built in the middle of it? I saw one somewhere and think that's where it was. Novel idea.

        Doug,
Did they finish paving it yet?
The couple of times I rode it last year, it was ugly.
Grooves 2-3 inches wide in the pavement.
Some sections were being grooved and ready for pavement, hopefully it's done. I think the Sprint would like that road :-D

Coming back across 302 is also nice, you can see Mt Washington.
I know it still has snow on it.

And it is Bear Mountain road. It turnes into a 1 lane "path"........
but the beginning has some real nice twisties on it.

We could start in Wells and head north-west to get there!

I ride that exact loop quite often since I have the gift of living a 40 minute drive to the Lincoln end of the Kanc. Bear Notch Road is a blast, probably opened just yesterday (May 1st). This time of year is perfect to ride it- no leaf peepers, not many hikers, the ski areas are all done, and no summer vacation. Definitely a must ride for bikers in the area.

Bear Notch is open and the Kanc has been repaved.
Still alot of spots where you have to watch out for frost heaves but a blast.
