Taking a break from wiping down and admiring the machine, I used the battery charger to top-up the battery overnight (found a regulator problem yesterday and realized that the charging system is not going over 12.5 volts).
5:30AM, the sun coming up and most of the anal people and their cages are still tucked away in slumberland....... GOOD:-D
I head out to test the bike after the rebuild, I end up heading for scenic Gran Couva, in Trinidad’s Central Range. Fresh air, miles of newly paved asphalt, undulating and winding through the beautiful, lush countryside. I have not been in this neck of the woods in eighteen years. What a sight.......... Oh darn, I did not pack the camera.
Lots and lots of beautiful territory to explore, friendly people and mild, un-agressive traffic. My only discomfort is the knowledge that my charging system is not up to snuff, and this has me apprehensive about getting too far out. The bike's running really well, engine’s very smooth and the bearing job I did in the Steering Head has really paid-off, the control of the bike is now superb as I negotiate all these bends. This is really good riding practice for me as, I can slow the bike down and workout my counter-steering and leaning technique and really appreciate the countryside. Stopped at a roadside vendor to get a quick bite and a soda, before heading back home, a few people gather around and look at the bike and admire the paintjob, what a great feeling. Way too short a trip, but it was very spontaneous. Will be going back, hopefully with a couple of other riders next Sunday for a more detailed expedition........ I'm suffering from "Bike Fever"!:-D
