Oh man, that sucks, for a lot of reasons. You will most likely get Blue Book Value and it will be low becasue of the age of the bike. With the miles you state and if it was in good condition, I'd say it's worth $2500 or so. Blue Book value is $1460. You will likely get much less than that unless you have special coverage by your own company for a classic or vintage machine.

If you want to be fully covered for your loss, you should sue immediately. File a law suit today, as in right now. You want to be on record before the insurance co. tries to settle the claim.

I ride, therefore I am.... constantly buying new tires.

Jeez! Sure hope you're allright. Why the hell don't people watch the road!?
I can't offer any help other than what the other guys have said. Just wanted to say I'm sorry to hear the news. :-(
And on the seventh day, after resting from all that he had done,God went for a ride on his GS!
Upon seeing that it was good, he went out again on his ZX14! But just a little bit faster!

Have them go with the NADA price of $2850. That is the price listed for an excellent condition bike, and who is to say that yours wasn't before being scraped down the road for all that way?

Oh yeah, I am sure glad that you are well enough to be posting on this forum.

Effing motorhomes. The bloody things are starting to pour into here. Glad to know you survived the encounter. A lady riding the Ride for Rockies bicycle tour wasnt so lucky and was killed on impact from a RV.

Look on the bright side, you have a BEAUTIFUL state to ride in. I grew up in Eugene. I wish I was there riding up 101. I agree, get a lawyer ASAP!

                Yikes!

You may find that the insurance company will be more than happy to give you your price for the bike. They should be happy to avoid a lawsuit. There are options besides suing.

How you are physically able to report this to us is beyond me.

Unfortunately you won't have the option of choosing how to value the bike, that's not how insurance companies work. I have experience working in the buisness. The only way to ensure a fair settlement is to sue- trust me. And make sure it's before the company even offers you a settlement.

                        Thank God you are alive

Man, that really sucks, just happy that God was sitting on your shoulder or at least behind you. I have had two brothers killed on bikes in a lot less severe accidents than you describe yours as being.

I agree with the others, get yourself an attorney and when the insurance company calls direct them to your attorney. It is a sad situation that we have to handle things this way, but the voice of experience is speaking here.

                        Good luck to you, mate.

Thank goodness you're okay. The folks that hit you should feel lucky to have the opportunity to pay for your bike, along with any other damages you want rather than paying for your funeral. How the hell do you manage to rear end someone on the damned highway? I'll never understand crashes like this...
