I guess I need to start getting on here regularly again, this reregistering every time I decided to slip back here and post is getting old. :shock:8-[
Anyway, I don't know if many of you do remember me since I haven't been a regular poster for just over a year now (gonna change I promise), but my '81 450L is still running like a champ (even though she doesn't like the hot weather) and I am still wishing for an 850 or bigger.
My story:
I think my bike is quite fed up with me. I will admit, ever since I bought the Lincoln back in Feb, it has been getting the weekly time that used to be spent washing, waxing, polishing and general pampering that was allocated to my bike. The bike knows this too! She has decided to leak from the clutch rod seal again (this one is only 5 or 6K old). Well I took her out on 4th of July riding for a while just after a nice wash, chain lube and adjustment and routine maintinance. She runs fine until I park her to watch the fire works and then I decided to head home. 30 ft from where I parked, the master link must have popped out because the chain just all of a sudden dropped and wedged up inbetween the tire and swingarm and also between the countershaft sprocket and case. Admittedly the chain was gonna be replaced in another 1000 miles or so (had 4600 on it) but I really didn't need to be stranded in the middle of town as several buddies passed by on shafty cruisers grinning.
As much as I love my bike, I think I really need a shafty, the chain is the only thing that has ever left me stranded on it :?
