I almost had the same thing happen to me...lucky for me I had a shoulder on the road...didn't seem to slow this guy at all because he proceeded to pass a second car as he went by me.

I can say from experience, its not fun. There is never a cop around when you want one. :-)

I think you would have gotten a ticket for improper lane usage or some such as well =)

True, but its much more of a challenge with oncoming traffic. :-)

WOW!! That is an amazing story!! Glad to hear you made the right decision...something to learn by...I had a cage pass me on the right, as I was going to make a right hand turn... I had the blinker on...What is WRONG with people these days?? As I used to say "Why are people in such a hurry to race to their death??"
Let's not imagine the consequences if you were in a cage yourself..What color is your cape??

Great riding and even greater restraint. I'm afraid I would have turned around and chased the SOB until I could put a brick through his windshield.

yeah, cagers passing on the right when I'm signalling for a right turn always ****es me off. I keep in mind these days that my turning on a turn signal in no way gives me right of way or preceedence over idiots. I always do a visual confirmation of being clear to turn prior to commencing my turn. If someone is coming up and I think they MAY try to pass me on the right, I go past my intended turn and turn when I'm sure I'm clear. Better to be a couple minutes late or slightly miffed than run over. :-) I hate being run over. Its so damned annoying. LOL

As much as I would have liked to have run down the black F250 and ripped that guys head off, when on a motorcycle, it is essential, no matter what happens, to maintain self control and remain cool, calm and methodical. You need to remain as emotionless as a computer out there. You want to get angry, stop the bike, shut it off, get off, and then have your tantrum. LOL

I think I will keep doing my swerve practice, just in case......... LOL

Swerve practice is.................find an empty stretch of road and weave the dotted line at about 60 mph. Every third of fourth stripe, stop the weave centered on the stripe. Do it for a couple of miles, in and out between every stripe. At first, it seems to require control inputs too fast to be reasonable.
With practice, you can precisely weave the stripes and stop the weave on a stripe. The practice appears to have come in handy. It required no thought at all to immediately do it.
